The Holy Night of Isra' and Mi'raj: An Overview
The journey of Mi'raj is one of the most significant events in Islamic history. The details of Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) sacred journey are as follows:
Time of Occurrence: This holy journey was undertaken by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on the 27th night of Rajab, 621 AD.
Beginning of the Journey: The journey commenced from Masjid al-Haram in the holy city of Makkah.
The First Stage: The Prophet (PBUH) traveled from Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem.
Meeting the Prophets in the Seven Heavens
From Masjid al-Aqsa, the Prophet (PBUH) ascended to the heavens, where he met various Prophets (Peace Be Upon Them) at each level:
1st Heaven: Adam (Alaihis Salam)
2nd Heaven: Yahya (A.S) & Isa (A.S)
3rd Heaven: Yusuf (A.S)
4th Heaven: Idris (A.S)
5th Heaven: Harun (A.S)
6th Heaven: Musa (A.S)
7th Heaven: Ibrahim (A.S)
Conclusion of the Journey and the Divine Gift
Following these meetings, several key events took place:
Divine Visions: The Prophet (PBUH) witnessed both Paradise (Jannah) and Hell (Jahannam).
Meeting the Creator: He traveled beyond the boundary of 'Sidrat al-Muntaha' to communicate with the Almighty.
Return to Earth: At the end of this sublime journey, he returned to the world with 'Salah' (the five daily prayers)—the greatest gift for humanity.
